this way the recorder is out of sight (out of mind) and only the tip of the mic is barely visable/but picks up perfect.this also came with 4 feet of wire to plug microphone into and extend futher I wanted a microphone to add to my olympus digital pocket recorder to exrtend the mic higher than my pocket.perfect height/great clearity.
its just the same as the device, except u can clip it to your sleve or shert and leave the recorder in your pocket instead of on a table. nothing special.
Sometimes, it's easier just to place the recorder in a blazer or shirt pocket, but you get the crunch of clothing as you move while recording. It works just fine. I can't really say it reduces back ground noice all that much, but I haven't tested it under the worst conditions yet. Otherwise, if you're stationary when talking and recording, the mic would probably be unnecessary. It's a little large. For example, larger than the Olympus earphone mic used for recording phone calls (which works great by the way), but it could still be concealed if need be behind a tie, shirt, or whatever.
The interview would have been impossible otherwise. I did an interview in a noisy restaurant and put the recorder on the table with the mic pointed straight up. The mic picked up both voices very well and cut down the background noise by at least 70%.
Price is appropriate to quality. Noise cancellation is optimum. Sponge cover doesn't stay on but who cares.
